Band 6 :11 Piece Authentic Soul Band
BAND 6Band 6 are an 11 piece authentic 60’s soul band who pride themselves in providing an energetic set of classic soul numbers from the likes of Otis Reading, Sam & Dave and Wilson Pickett to name just few. Originally formed in 1986, this band can claim to more than their fair share of high points during their 20 year existence. These high points include the release of three CD’s. ‘What the hell is goin on!’ in 1993, ‘Drop it and Run’ in 1995 and ‘Another Slice of that Cake’ in 1998. All CD’s have proved highly successful for the band, resulting in three trips to the exclusive ski resort of St.Moritz in Switzerland, to perform in the Kings Club at the Palace Hotel. A club which the Times newspaper described as “The most exclusive night-spot in the whole of the Alps!”. As a result of the bands regular appearance at the club, further prestigious bookings have resulted in the ski resort, including playing outside with temperatures touching minus 8 degrees, on the frozen lake at St.Moritz at the ‘White Turf’ horse racing festival. The event carries the highest purse in Switzerland and consequently attracts some of Europe’s most wealthy people! Yet the most exclusive performance for the band to date must be at the Corviglia Ski Club annual dinner. Set high up in the Alps above St.Moritz, the Club is the haunt of most of Europe’s Royal families and wealthiest business people. For security reasons, this was a fact unbeknown to the band until they started playing! Included in the audience were: The Queen of Sweden, Prince and Princess Rouse (AKA Anna Freida of Abba), Prince Dimetry of Yugoslavia, Prince Frederick of Germany to name just few. The band have since been invited back to perform on a further two occasions around the Lake Lucerne area of Switzerland. In total the band have now played 42 shows across the country during their 5 trips. Meanwhile in the UK they have supported many name acts around the country, including: Bad Manners, Edwin Star, Slade and David Essex, as well as building a large following of their own in the south west. This support has resulted in numerous live Radio and TV performances, as well as headlining events which have attracted in excess of 3,500 people. In addition to this the band have completed two successful summer season's at Butlin's Summer West World at Minehead plus a number of dates at Butlins South Coast World at Bognor Regis in total performing on over 35 occasions.
